Cincy Blues Fest Celebrates 19th Year!
The Cincy Blues Fest is in its 19th year of bringing a unique blend of music to Cincinnati, showcasing more than 30 acts on four stages: Budweiser Main Stage: Featuring headliners and living legends of the blues world; Arches Stage (Friday): This year’s theme is Rockabilly; Boogie-Woogie Piano Hall of Fame Stage (Saturday): A gathering of blues and boogie piano greats from around the world; St. Vincent DePaul Local Stage: Showcasing the best of Cincinnati’s award-winning blues scene.
On August 5 and 6, Cincinnati’s Sawyer Point Park will be rocking with local and national blues performers. This year, the Main Stage features Eden Brent, Big James Montgomery and the Chicago Playboys, Rick Holmstrom, Moreland & Arbuckle, Ben Prestage, and Tad Robinson, as well as Cincy Blues Challenge winners Miss Lissa & Company and Brian Keith Wallen.
On Saturday the Main Stage will also host a performance by Cincy Blues Society’s Blues in the Schools (BITS) Band. “Every year the BITS band gets better and better – the students in the program are amazingly talented and draw crowds that rival some of the national acts,” says festival Co-Director Joy Dzeich. “Because proceeds from this festival directly support BITS, we’re thrilled to showcase the talent and hard work of these young musicians, who are keeping the blues alive to inspire future performers and fans.”
On Friday, don’t miss five Rockabilly acts on the Arches Stage. Tri-state favorites Straw Boss, The Wastewheelers, the Star Devils, and Crazy Joe & the Mad River Outlaws will bring their swingin’ sounds to the stage, along with Ann Arbor, Michigan guitar slinger George Bedard.
