The Cincy Blues Fest: A Labor of Love for Coordinators and Volunteers

The 2011 Cincy Blues Fest is just over a month away, but preparations for this 2-day event have been in the works since right after the Winter Blues Fest in January. A dedicated group of Cincy Blues Society board members and volunteers collectively spend thousands of hours coordinating every aspect of the Fest: from booking, site logistics, and transportation, to security, volunteer recruiting, merchandise, and hospitality.

Over the next few weeks, some of these coordinators and volunteers will be posting their own behind-the-scenes articles to provide a glimpse at the hard work that is necessary to pull off a fun and successful event.

It is a true labor of love — love of the blues, and love of the Queen City — that brings these people together to donate their time and talents to keep the blues alive through one of Cincinnati’s best summer festivals. We all sincerely hope to see you at the Fest in August!
